| dc.description.abstract | Pirāti pasaulē ir pazīstami jau, kopš cilvēki sāka izmantot jūras un okeānus kā tirdzniecības ceļus. Āfrikas austrumos musulmaņu valstī Somālijā pirātisma problēma šobrīd ir aktualizējusies, un Somālijas pirāti ir nonākuši visas pasaules mediju uzmanības centrā.
Savā darbā autore apskata trīs pamata tēmas – musulmaņu pirāti, Somālijas vēsture un Somālijas pirātu nesenās aktivitātes, tādējādi pētot Somālijas pirātu rašanos un raksturu.

The problem of piracy in the Muslim country Somalia in the East of Africa has activated recently, and Somali pirates now have all the attention from mass media from all over the
world.
In her research „Somali pirates” the author deals with three issues – Muslim pirates, the history of Somalia and the recent activities of Somali pirates. Therefore the author examines how Somali pirates came in existence and what they are like.
