| dc.description.abstract | Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek apskatītas Eiropas Savienības (ES) juridisko tekstu tulkošanas problēmas, jo sevišķi konsekvences ievērošana tulkojot juridiskos terminus un izteicienus, kā arī problēmas nespeciālistu veiktos tulkojumos. Šo tēmu ir svarīgi aplūkot, jo ES juridisko tekstu tulkojumu latviešu valodā kvalitāte bieži ir neapmierinoša. Darbā tiek pētīta specializēto tekstu tulkošana, tiek apskatīti juridisko tekstu tipi, to funkcijas un juridisko tekstu tulkošanas stratēģijas. Tāpat tiek pētīti ES juridisko tekstu tulkošanas norādījumi un veidi kā ES juridiskie teksti jātulko latviešu valodā. Bakalaura darbā tiek apskatīti veidi kā uzlabot juridisko tekstu tulkojumus un tādēļ tiek aplūkotas šī mērķa dēļ aizsāktas valodas kampaņas. Juridisko terminu un izteicienu konsekvence tulkojumos tika pētīta analizējot profesionāļu veiktus ES juridisko tekstu tulkojumus, kas pieejami EUR-lex datubāzē, tāpat pētot arī galvenos nespeciālistu veikto tulkojumu trūkumus, lai saprastu kādas specifiskas lietas rada problēmas tulkojot juridiskos tekstus. Veicot pētījumu tika atklāts, ka problēmas tulkojumos rada tulkotāju atšķirīgā pieeja tulkošanas procesam un nepietiekama datu bāžu un ES noteikto norādījumu izmantošana tulkojumos.

| dc.description.abstract | The paper researches problems in translation of European Union (EU) legal texts, in particular the problem of consistency in translation of legal terms and expressions, as well as problems in non-specialist legal text translations. The theme is researched because the quality of EU legal text translations into Latvian is often unsatisfactory. It researches specialized text translation, looking at legal text types, their function and strategies of translating legal texts. The conventions of EU legal text translation are discussed and the conventions of translation of EU legal texts into Latvian are researched. Furthermore, the thesis researches ways of improving legal text translations, looking at some language campaigns launched for reaching that goal. The problem of consistency in translation of legal terms and expressions is discussed, analyzing examples from professional translations of EU legal texts available at EUR-lex database and main drawbacks of non-specialist translations are examined in order to find out what specific things cause problems in legal translation. It was discovered that problems in translation of EU legal texts are caused by different opinions on translation among the translators as well as because of the lack of adequate database and EU convention on translation use.
