Keneta Greiema romāna "Vējš vītolos" divu tulkojumu salīdzinājums latviešu valodā

Abstract

Keneta Greiema romāns “Vējš vītolos” ir bērnu literatūras klasika, kā arī viens no retajiem angļu darbiem, kas latviski tulkots divas reizes – 1937. un 1987.gadā. Šajos tulkojumos ar 50 gadu starpību vērojamas milzīgas atšķirības. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir salīdzināt abus tulkojumus, izanalizēt izmantotās pieejas un izvēlēties labāko variantu, galvenokārt, mūsdienu lasītājiem. Pētījuma metodes ietver sastatāmo analīzi un aptauju. Galvenais autores secinājums: 1937.gada tulkojums vietām ir nepareizs un izklausās neveikli, kā arī ir mazāk piemērots mūsdienu lasītājiem burtiskās tulkošanas pieejas dēļ. The novel “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame is a classic of children’s literature and one of the rare English works translated into Latvian twice – in 1937 and 1987. The span of these 50 years has made both the Latvian versions considerably different. The goal of this research is to compare both the translations, analyze the applied approaches and decide on a more successful translation, especially for the modern readership. The research methods include contrastive analysis and a survey. The main conclusion drawn by the author: the translation of 1937 contains a number of wrong interpretations and in parts sounds awkward; it is less appropriate for the modern Latvian readership because of the literal approach applied.
