Grammar can be instructed to children in different ways; however, not all of them are effective. Many factors such as psychology, creativity and imagination should be taken into consideration while teaching children. English grammar acquisition through the formal insruction of the grammar rules out of the context does not allow students to use their knowledge in real-life situations and these rules are easily forgotten. Therefore, the present research was carried out and its aim was to analyze how the use of storytelling could help children to improve English grammar because stories allow to explain grammar through the meaningful context. In order to achive the goal, three stories and exrcises to them were designed and a qualitative case study with two students from a primary school was conducted which consisted of direct observation and interviews; the literature review of relevant theories about grammar, children learning English as a foreign language, storytelling as a genre and the use of storytelling in the English classroom was made. The obtained results prove that the use of storytelling results in effective English grammar acquisition; children are focused on the grammatical meaning, how to use grammar rules rather than on the grammatical form which they acquire implicitly. Key words: storytelling, English grammar acquisition, meaningful context, effective.
