| dc.description.abstract | Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt perifrāzes pielietojumu Vergilija poēmā Eneīda. Darba teorētisko pamatu veido antīko un mūsdienu teorētiķu uzskati par perifrāzi, tās būtību un funkcijām tekstā, tāpat arī mūsdienu zinātniskās literatūras atzinumi par episkā stila raksturiezīmēm un to, kāda nozīme tajā ir mākslinieciskajiem izteiksmes līdzekļiem, lai varētu labāk novērtēt perifrāzes nozīmi šajā kontekstā.
Pētījuma praktiskajā daļā pētīta perifrāze Vergilija poēmā Eneīda, iedalot to pa veidiem atkarībā no tā, kas tiek ar perifrāzi apzīmēts - dzīvas būtnes, ģeogrāfiski objekti, lietas, parādības un darbības. Perifrāzei šajā poēmā ir dažādas funkcijas – tā grezno un bagātina izteiksmi, padarot to poētiskāku, uzsver noteiktas apzīmējamā objekta īpašības un bieži vien tiek lietota, lai kontekstā kaut ko lasītājam paskaidrotu vai netieši norādītu. Dažkārt perifrāzei ir arī eifēmiska nozīme.

| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this bachelor research is to explore the use of periphrasis in Virgil’s epic poem The Aeneid. Theoretical part is based on ancient and modern theoreticians’ cognitions about periphrasis, it’s nature and functions, as well as adjudgements of contemporary scientific literature about charachteristics of epic style and meaning of figures of speech regarding it.
In practical part the author explores how periphrasis is used in Virgil’s poem The Aeneid, regarding it’s functions and kinds, depending on what is described using periphrasis – gods, human beings, tribes, geographical objects, things, natural phenomenons and actions. Periphrasis has various functions in this poem - it amplifies and adorns the discourse, emphasizes the nature of certain attributes, and is often used as a way of explaining or implying something to reader. Sometimes it has also euphemistic function.
