Angļu valodas prosodijas elementu mācīšana augstskolā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek aplūkota angļu valodas prosodijas elementu mācīšana augstskolā. Darba mērķis bija pētīt, kā angļu valodas prosodijas elementu – toņa grupas, teikuma uzsvara un toņa – mācīšana var ietekmēt studentu publiskās runas prezentāciju. Darbā pielietotās pētījuma metodes ir literatūras analīze, gadījuma pētījums, kas ietver diagnosticējošo testu, izmēģinājuma mācīšanu un progresa testu, kā arī kvalitatīvā un kvantitatīvā studentu testu rezultātu analīze. Pētījumā tika analizēti deviņu pirmā kursa angļu filoloģijas studentu diagnosticējošie un progresa testi. Balstoties uz analīzes rezultātiem, tika secināts, ka pēc trīs semināriem par angļu valodas prosodiju septiņi studenti uzlaboja publiskās runas sniegumu un izklausījās pārliecinošāki, prezentējot runas fragmentu.

The present thesis deals with teaching English prosodic features to university students. The goal of the paper was to investigate how the instruction on English prosodic features – tone groups, sentence stress and tones – can influence the students' presentation of a persuasive public speech. The applied research methods are analysis of secondary sources, a case study,which comprises a diagnostic test, pilot teaching and achievement test, as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis of the students' test results. Nine first year English philology students' diagnostic and achievement tests were analyzed. Based on the findings it was concluded that after three seminars on English prosody seven students had improved their performance and sounded more persuasive when performing a fragment of a public speech.
