A financial blog is a relatively new concept, which opens a new channel of news and opinion communication. The paper answers three research questions: What are the moves and steps of the financial blogs? What are the discourse communities related to the financial blogs? What is the communicative purpose of the financial blogs? The paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter investigates the concept of genre and genre analysis and is based on the works by Bazerman (2006), Martin-Martin (2005), Swales (1990), Bhatia (1996) and others. The second chapter examines the development of financial blogs by reviewing the characteristics of the written language, concept of blogging and finance as the subject of blogs. The third chapter deals with the empirical analysis of the research corpus and results in a move and step model of the genre of financial blogs and definition of discourse communities and communicative purpose, hence having the research questions answered.
