The diploma paper „The tourism terminology and the specific character of interpreting in the work of the travel consultant” considers existing tourism terminology and its use in the work of the travel consultant.
The author of the paper sets several goals and objectivs: the analyse of principles of forming terminology and the quality of terms and the description of the tourism terminology and 3 tourism spheres: the lodging for the night, the public catering and airline companies, problems were posed and the commentary given.
Polysemantic and regional terms, also cultural aspects are causing most of the problems in the interpreting and using of tourism terms.
Foreign language terms are borrowed into Latvian, because they are shorter and easier to use.
The specific role of travel consultant as mediator was considered. It is the travel consultant, who ensures the communication between clients and representativs of tourism services.
In the consultant work the skills of contact interpreting are useful, especially in interface with clients and other tourism specialists.
In conclusion it is stated the travel consultant has a difficult task - he must know all specific terminology, in order to give quality information. Also it is necessary to work out common tourism terminology, which would improve the quality and future development of this field.
