Elīnas Svilpes vadībā, laika posmā no 2010. gada oktobra līdz 2011. gada maijam. This work represents a research on the effects of mushroom – white button mushroom, chantarelle and shiitake mushroom, hot water extracts on Normal line virgin fruit fly imago locomotor activity depending on the age of flies.
Three concentration groups were made for each extract: with 0,000%, 0,015%, 0,030% amount of ethanol precipitated fraction per yeast suspension volume. The parameters assessed were death rate of fruit fly depending on their age and negative geotropism of individuals of different ages.
Sexual dimorphism was observed in test results for both survival and negative geotropism, as well as in the response to exposure to mushroom extracts. It was shown that fruit fly females of all groups live longer than males, and that age related decrease in their negative geotropism is less expressed than in males. It was also shown that mushroom fruiting body hot water extracts have positive effects on fruit fly male locomotor activity. Positive effects on female survival and locomotor activity were not stated. In comparison with shiitake mushroom group, manifest differences between locomotor activity of individuals in control group and those that were given the extract were observed in male fruit fly white button mushroom and chantarelle groups. Changes in survival rate of females and males feed with mushroom extracts, in comparison to control, were not statistically significant.
Bachelor thesis was developed at the Department of Microbiology and biotechnology at LU faculty of Biology under the direction of Elina Svilpe, Mag. biol., in a time period from October 2010 to May 2011.
