Akadēmiskā stila īpatnības pētnieciskajos darbos

Abstract

Angļu valodas pieaugošās ietekmes dēļ akadēmiskajā vidē ir kļuvis vitāli svarīgi izpētīt akadēmiskā stila īpatnības rakstībā. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt akadēmiskajos rakstos visbiežāk lietotās metadiskursa kategorijas un sastādīt biežāk lietoto vardu sarakstu. Izpētes procesā tika izmantota kvalitatīva teorijas analīze par akadēmisko stilu un metadiskursu, kā arī kvantitatīva anketu analīze par studentu problēmām saistītām ar akadēmisko vārdu krājumu un kvantitātīva metadiskursa analīze pētnieciskajos rakstos. Anketas analīzes rezultāti norādīja, ka studentiem ir problēmas ar akadēmiski atbilstošu vokābulu. Metadiskursa analīze atklāja, ka noteiktas metadiskursa metodes, kā piemēram izvairīga valoda un pārejas norādes, kuras pētnieciskajos rakstos tiek izmantotas biežāk nekā citas.

Due to the growing influence of English language in the academic setting, it has become vital to investigate the peculiarities of the academic writing style. The purpose of this research is to investigate the most commonly used categories of meta-discourse in academic writing, and compile list of frequently used vocabulary. The methods used in the process of research were qualitative analysis of the theory on academic style and meta-discourse, as well as quantitative analysis of questionnaire on the problems students may have with academic vocabulary and quantitative analysis of meta-discourse in research articles. The results of the questionnaire analysis indicated that students have problems with academically appropriate vocabulary. The results of the meta-discourse analysis indicated that there are certain meta-discoursal devices such as hedges and transition markers that are more frequent in the research articles than the others.
