Amerikas somu valoda

Abstract

19.gs.beig.- 20.gs. sāk. Eiropā bija nemierīgs un daudzās valstīs arī ekonomiski trūcīgs laiks. Daudzi somi emigrēja uz ASV, kur imigranti saskārās ar valodas barjeru. Tika radīts jauns valodas paveids – Amerikas somu valoda. Šī valoda ir savdabīga, jo tās pamatā ir atšķirīgas valodas – somu un angļu valoda. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir ieskatīties somu imigrantu liktenī ASV un analizēt somu valodas attīstību specifiskā, daļēji noslēgtā vidē. Amerikas somu valodas leksikā ir daudz aizguvumu un tiešu pārnesumu no angļu valodas. Amerikas somu valodas gramatika, saglabājot somisko pamatu, atspoguļo angļu valodas gramatiskās sistēmas ietekmi. Šajā darbā izmantotajā respondentu aptaujā tiek analizēta Amerikas somu valodas leksika un tekstveide mūsdienās. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka Amerikas somu valoda mūsdienās tiek lietota arī somu valodas slengā. Atslēgvārdi: Amerikas somu valoda, imigranti, vēsture, leksika, slengs.

In Europe at the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century, times were unstable and in some countries also financially poor. Many Finns immigrated to the USA, where they encountered a language barrier and thus a new form of language emerged, i.e. American Finnish language or simply Finglish. This language is specific, because it developed from two different languages Finnish and English. The main aim of this bachelor’s paper is to develop an insight into Finnish immigrant lives in the USA and to analyze the development of the Finnish language in a specific, partly isolated environment. The Finnish lexicon contains a lot of borrowings and direct loans from the Finnish language. The grammar of Finglish, preserving its Finnish roots, reflects the influence of English language grammatical system. The questionnaires, which serve as the data for this paper, are used to analyze the lexis of the American Finnish language and text production to date. The conclusions of this paper show that the contemporary Finglish is used in Finnish language slang as well. Keywords: Finglish, immigrants, history, lexicon, slang.
