The work is devoted to the study of images of Baba Yaga and Koshchei and features of their image in the modern literary fairy tales (based on the literary works of A.Aliverdiev, A.Gravitsky, M.Vishnevetskaya, A.Belyanin, O.Gromiko, A.Rudazov, A.Starobinets and V.Kungurtseva).
The author of the work has carried out a detailed analysis of the images of Baba Yaga and Koshchei by comparing them with folk prototypes. The study has shown a tendency to rehabilitate Koshchei and Baba Yaga - traditionally negative characters of folk fairy tales. The paper also highlights the major theoretical issues concerning literary and folk fairy tales.
This research may interest philologists, who study literary fairy tales, modern literature and Slavic folklore.
