Reālā un iztēlotā pasaules Skarletas Tomasas romānā „Mistera Y gals”

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta reālā un izdomātā pasaule Skarletas Tomasas romānā ,,Mistera Y gals” (,,The End of Mr. Y”). Šajā grāmatā tiek skartas daudzas zinātniskas un filozofiskas tēmas, kas liek lasītājm pārdomāt pasaules struktūru un realitātes robežas. Darbs sniedz īsu ieskatu romāna analīzei nepieciešamajās postmodernisma filozofijas teorijās un sniedz priekšstatu par tēlu reālo un iedomu pasauli. Lai sasniegtu šos mērķus, tiek pielietotas teorētiskās pētīšanas metodes, kas iekļauj sevī atbilstošās postmodernisma filozofiskās literatūras apskatu. Praktiskās metodes ir romāna analīze un tēlu reālās un iedomu pasaules uztveres interpretācija. Šajā darbā tiek apspriestas vairākas romāna interpretācijas atkarībā no tā žanra noteikšanas. Pētījuma rezultātā tika izdarīts secinājums, ka reālās un izdomātās pasaules robežas romānā ir neskaidras un tās viegi mainās.

This paper discusses the real and the imaginary worlds in Scarlett Thomas’s novel The End of Mr. Y. This book has many scientific and philosophical digressions, which invite the reader to question the structure of the world and the limits of reality. The paper provides an overview of postmodern philosophical theories relevant to the analysis of the novel and discusses its characters’ real and imaginary worlds. For this purpose, it uses theoretical methods of research, which consist in the studying of the relevant literature on postmodern philosophy. The practical methods are the novel’s analysis and interpretation of the characters’ perception of the real and imaginary. The paper discusses the possibility of different readings of the novel according to the definition of its genre and shows that the border between the real and the imaginary in it is blurred and unstable.
