Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ar nosaukumu Atskatoties bērnībā: vēstījuma stratēģijas Franka Makkurta „Andželas pelni” koncentrējas uz stāstījuma stratēģijām un tehnikām ko autors izmantojis lai sasniegtu darba spilgto emocionālo iespaidu un nostiprinātu sekmīgu komunikāciju ar lasītāju. Teorētiskais apskats pieskaras ne tikai stāstījuma stratēģijām, bet arī Bildungsromāna tēmām un raksturīgajām iezīmēm, kā arī Īru autobiogrāfijai. Darbā izklāstītais teorētiskais materiāls tiek pielietos praksē t.i. analizējot Makkurta memuāru, īpašu uzsvaru liekot uz Bildungsromāna elementiem un motīviem, kas vērojami memuārā „Andželas Pelni” Bakalaura darbs pēta veidus kā ticis radīts Franka tēla patiesums un īstums, kā arī dziļāk tiek pētīts kādā veidā tiek nostiprināta un saglabāta komunikācija starp lasītāju un stāstītāju un aspekti, kas padara Makkurta memuāru tik neparastu un izcilu. The Bachelor paper under the title Looking Back on Childhood: Narrative Strategies in Frank McCourt’s „Angela’s Ashes” focuses upon the narrative strategies and techniques that the author has employed to achieve the work’s emotional effectiveness and to establish successful communication with the readers. Apart from the narrative strategies related, the theoretical survey touches upon the themes and the characteristics of Bildungsroman in general and Irish autobiographical writing in particular. The formulated theoretical framework is afterwards applied in practice, i.e. to the analysis of McCourt’s memoir, with a special emphasis on the elements and motifs of Irish Bildungsroman found in “Angela’s Ashes”. Additionally the paper investigates the means to create the main character Frank’s authenticity and verisimilitude as well as it closely examines the way communication between the narrator and the reader is established and maintained and the aspects making the memoir so unconventional and brilliant.
