Abstract

Bakalaura darbs “Stāstījuma stratēģijas Čaka Palaņuka romānā “Cīņas klubs””koncentrējas uz pielietotajām stāstījuma stratēģijām, lai radītu spilgtu un emocionālu indivīda raksturojumu 20. gadsimta nejūtīgajā un vienaldzīgajā sabiedrībā. Teorētiskā un praktiskā metode ir pielietota bakalaura darba izveidē. Teorētiskā metode sevī ietver Amerikas postmodernisma un it īpaši transgresīvās daiļliteratūras iezīmju izpēti un analīzi, kā arī koncentrējas uz stāstījuma un stāstījuma stratēģiju izpēti. Īpaša uzmanība ir vērsta, lai izpētītu sekojošus jēdzienus: stastītājs, dubultošana, fokalizācija un teksta hronoloģija, kam par pamatu ņemts tādu autoru kā Gennette, Bal, Abbott, u.c. piedāvātais teorētiskais materiāls. Piemērojot teorētisko daļu Čaka Palanjuka romāna analīzē, sekojoši secinājumi ir veikti: efektīva stastījuma stratēģiju pielietošana „Cīņas klubā” un it īpaši stāstītāja dubultā personība rada īpaši izteiktu un emocionālu ieskatu mūsdienu indivīda iekšēja pasaulē un motivacijā.

The Bachelor’s paper “Narrative strategies in Chuck Palahniuk’s novel ‘Fight Club’” concentrates on narrative techniques applied to create a colorful and emotional description of an individual in the 20th century insensible and indifferent consumer society. To develop the Bachelor paper the theoretical and practical methods are applied. The theoretical part includes the study and analysis of the theory on transgressive novel in American postmodernist literature as well as on narrative and narrative techniques. Particular attention is paid to the concepts of narrator, doubling, focalization and chronology of the text, and the survey of the leading work in narratology (Genette, Bal, Abbot et al) is conducted. Applying the theoretical framework to the analysis of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel, the following conclusions are drawn: the effective use of specific narrative strategies in “Fight Club”, most importantly the double personality of the narrator, gives a more profound and emotional insight into the contemporary individual’s inner world and motivations.
