Latviešu un igauņu tēls vācbaltiešu mācītāju redzējumā konsistorijas ziņojumos no 17. līdz 19. gadsimtam

Šajā darbā tiek pētīti vācbaltiešu mācītāju uzskati par Livonijas zemniekiem un viņu reliģiskajām paražām, balstoties uz Livonijas luterāņu baznīcas vizitāciju protokolos sniegtajām ziņām laika posmā no 1634. gada līdz 1858. gadam un citos darbos. Lai gūtu precīzāku ieskatu par vācbaltiešu attiecībām ar zemniekiem, luterāņu mācītāju darbība tiek aplūkota tā laika vēsturiskajā un reliģiskajā kontekstā, tā rodot atbildes uz jautājumiem, kā ir veidojušies viņu uzskati par Livonijas tautām gadsimtu gaitā. Latvijas zemnieku pagānisms un sinkrētisms tiek salīdzināti ar vācu zemnieku reliģiju, lai varētu novērtēt Latvijas zemnieku kultūru un vācbaltiešu mācītāju uzskatus par to Eiropas kontekstā.
Darbā tiek meklētas atbildes arī uz jautājumiem, kā ir veidojušies vācbaltiešu mācītāju stereotipi par latviešu zemniekiem. Vienlaicīgi tiek mēģināts atklāt, kādi vēsturiskie apstākļi un spēki veicināja vācbaltiešu un Livonijas pamatiedzīvotāju kultūru norobežošanos vienai no otras un kādas bija galvenās luterāņu mācītāju problēmas zemnieku reliģiskās izglītošanas darbā.
Darba rezultātā tika atklāts, ka vācbaltiešu mācītāju evaņģelizācijai nebija panākumu nevis vācbaltiešu un latviešu, igauņu reliģisko un valodas kultūru atšķirību dēļ, bet gan tālaika sabiedrībā stingri noteikto robežu starp sociālajām grupām dēļ, kas bija par iemeslu tam, ka Livonijas zemniekiem nebija daudz iespēju uzturēt draudzīgus kontaktus ar mācītājiem. Kungu un mācītāju interesēs bija saglabāt radīto dzimtbūšanas sistēmu, kurā zemnieki zināmā mērā bija izolēti no vācbaltiešu kultūras. Vācbaltiešu gadsimtu gaitā izveidojušies stereotipi par Livonijas zemnieku māņticību un neprātību bija iegansts, lai viņus turētu pakļautībā. Kad pateicoties hernhūtiešu darbībai šie stereotipi tika uzveikti, bija iespējama kultūru un reliģiju vērtību apmaiņa starp tautām.

Kultūru apmaiņas priekšnoteikumi In this thesis, views of the German Baltic pastors about Livonian peasants and their religious customs shall be analyzed. In the research, the findings from the consistorial reports of the Lutheran Church of Livonia from 1634 till 1858 are used and they are compared with information from other works. To get a precise view about the German Baltic relationship with peasants pastors activities are considered in the historical and religious context of that time so finding answers to questions how their views about the Latvian people have formed. Latvian peasant’s paganism, syncretism are compared with the German peasant’s religion, for to assess the Latvian peasant culture, the German Baltic pastor’s views in the European context.
The study tries to find out, how German Baltic pastor’s stereotypes about Livonian peasants are formed. Simultaneously, an attempt is made to discover what historical circumstances and forces contributed to the fact that the German Baltic and Livonian cultures distanced from each other and what the main problems of the lutheran pastors were in the work of religious education.
In the study was revealed that German Baltic, Livonian religious and cultural differences were not the main reasons why German Baltic pastors had not the success in the evangelisation. The reason was the strict boundaries between social groups of that time and Livonian peasants had not many opportunities to maintain informal contacts with pastors. Estate managers were concerned in to save system of serfdom in which peasants were to some extend isolated from the Baltic German culture. The stereotypes of the German Baltics pastors they have created were excuse to keep peasants under. When due of the activities of the Christians from the Moravian church, these stereotypes were defeated it was possible an exchange of both religious and cultural values between the people.
