Austrālija, latviešu rakstnieki, svešums, dzimtene, proza, arhetipi, pretmeti “New Australians” (Latvian Australians) felt especially alienated due to the distinct cultural dissimilarities both from Europe and USA, as well as the seasonal differences. Thus Australia, as being one of the furthest continents from Latvia, has influenced Latvian writers and their prose, what is the main topic of my research paper. Contrast of characterization between exile and homeland is analysed in the theory of archetypical categories by C. G. Jung: The Self, The Wise Man, the Great Mother, Anima / Animus, Individuation, Child, Mask, and the Shadow. Based on the research of antagonisms between homeland and strangeness (exile), landscape features and archetypes, the most recognizable (Australian) Latvians are: A. Plaudis, R. Kraulis, A. Vavere, L. Berzina and E. Kikure. By examining the contrasts between homeland and strangeness different projection types of archetypes has been revealed, for example: dualism of Australian and Latvian Great Mother or the Wise Man realised in generational continuity.
