Abstract

Fantastiskais Jāņa Veseļa īsprozā Šajā darbā Jāņa Veseļa (1896-1962) īsprozas fantastiskie motīvi un vēstījuma paņēmieni analizēti latviešu fantastiskās literatūras tradīcijas kontekstā. Uzmanība pievērsta autora apzināti lietotajiem fantastiskās īsprozas žanriem – teiksmai un fantāzijai –, kā arī J. Veseļa laika kritikai un literatūrteorijai. J. Veseļa „Latvju teiksmas” tiecas sniegt pārdabiskā dimensiju tautai, iekļaujoties 20. gs. neomītisma paradigmā, kamēr agrīnajā, lielā mērā ekspresionistiskajā īsprozā fantastiskie elementi palīdz analizēt psihes darbību, kā arī kritizēt realitāti, tostarp laikmeta sociālos un politiskos apstākļus, un iztēlē šķērsot tās robežas.

The Fantastical in the Short Stories of Janis Veselis This work views the shorter fiction of early Latvian fantastic literature writer Janis Veselis (1896-1962) within context of the concrete literary tradition in which they were written, including the genres of fantastic literature consciously used by the author (versions of fantasy and legend) and the literary criticism of the time. J. Veselis’ ”Latvian Legends” are part of 20th century mythopoeia and aim to offer spiritual values to the nation, while his earlier, largely expressionistic, shorter works analyze the psyche and criticise and imaginatively transgress reality, including social and political circumstances.
