Tulkošana un globalizācija - tulkotāja profesijas attīstība un izmaiņas

Abstract

Diplomdarba ar nosaukumu «Tulkošana un globalizācija - tulkotāja profesijas attīstība un izmaiņas» autore pievēršas jautājumam par saikni starp globalizāciju un lingvistiku, tai skaitā tulkošanu, kā arī aplūko tulkotāja lomu šajā jaunajā kontekstā. Darbs sastāv no trijām daļām. Vispirms varam izsekot nelielam vēsturiskam apskatam, kā arī salīdzināt dažas terminu «tulkošana» un «globalizācija» definīcijas. Pirmajā daļā tiek aplūkota arī globalizācijas ietekme uz supranacionālu organizāciju izveidi un darbību, analizējot tulkošanas nozīmi konkrētās starptautiskās un Eiropas līmeņa institūcijās. Šīs daļas noslēgumā tiek apkopoti galvenie teorētiskie tulkošanas paņēmieni, atsaucoties uz franču autoru darbiem. Diplomdarba otrajā daļā autore pēta globalizācijas radīto lingvistisko ietekmi uz tulkošanu un analizē jautājumu, kādi tulkošanas paņēmieni visbiežāk tiek pielietoti tulkošanā, kā piemērus minot jaunos internacionālos terminus un jēdzienus, eiro žargonu, saīsinājumus un citus. Vadoties no šiem pētījumiem, var konstatēt sava veida valodu un kultūru konverģenci, kas ir saistīta gan ar valodu indoeiropeisko izcelsmi, gan ar tendenci, kas vērojama starptautiskajās institūcijās, izstrādājot terminus dažās dominējošās valodās un pēc tam tos tulkojot citās valodās, kā arī ar ekonomikas un populārās kultūras globalizāciju. Šīs daļas beigās tiek apskatīts jautājums par globālo procesu ietekmi uz latviešu valodu un nacionālo identitāti. Trešā nodaļa ir veltīta tulkotāja lomai un izmaiņām, kas vērojamas tulkotāja profesijā, šajā jaunajā globālo pārmaiņu kontekstā. Apskatot tādus faktorus kā tehnoloģiskais progress, mobilitāte, laiks un ātrums, autore novēro pārmaiņas, kas ir saistītas ar tulkošanas procesā izmantotajiem informācijas avotiem, tulkojumu tēmām, kā arī tulkotāju specializācijas tendenci un izmaiņām viņu profesionālajā sagatavošanā un nodarbinātībā. Visbeidzot tiek pievērsta uzmanība tulkotāja profesionālajam statusam, un ieskicēts profesionāla tulkotāja mūsdienu tēls.

SUMMARY

The purpose of the diploma paper “Translation and Globalization: Evolution of the Translator’s Craft” is to observe the relationship between globalization and linguistics through translation, as well as the translator’s role in this new context. The diploma paper consists of three parts. In the first part a historical insight into the issue and a comparison of some “translation” and “globalization” concept definitions is studied. In this chapter the influence of globalization on the constitution and activities of supranational organizations and their effect on translation through world and European institutions is examined. The conclusion of the first part generalizes theoretical processes of translation. In the second part the author studies the issue of globalization’s linguistic impact on translation, analyzes the most common used processes in translation and the creation of new globalization-related international terms. This resulted in observing a certain linguistic and cultural convergence, related both to Indo-European origin of languages and consideration of political system, supporting the downward diffusion of terms and expressions coming from supranational authorities towards the national, and also a convergence because of the language and the culture. At the conclusion of this part the influence of globalization on Latvian language and national identity is observed. The third part is dedicated to the issue of the Translator’s craft and its changes in the new global context. Through the study of such processes as technologic development, mobility, time and speed, the author observes changes related to information sources, translation themes, tendency of translator’s greater specialization and changes in their vocational training and employment. And, finally, the author pays attention to the evolution of translator’s professional status and endeavours to outline the new professional translator’s image.
