| dc.description.abstract | Bakalaura darba galvenais apskates objekts ir alternatīvā vēsture postmodersnisma literatūrā. Pētījumā, izmantojot vairāku autoru teorijas un empīriskus datus, tiek apskatīta postmodernisma kā mūsdienu fenomena sabiedrībā un literatūrā raksturīgākās iezīmes un to ietekme uz vēstures pētījumiem.
Lai analizētu alternatīvās vēstures literatūru, pētījumā tiek apskatīti dati par šī literatūras žanra vēsturi un mūsdienu tendencēm postmodernisma alternatīvajā vēsturē izmantojot divus darbus, kas sarakstīti alternatīvās literatūras žanrā – Stīvena Fraja “Making History” un Roberta Harisa “Fatherland”. Darbi tiek analizēti žanra piederības kontekstā, kā arī caur postmodernismam raksturīgajām iezīmēm, kas sastopamas minētajos literatūras darbos.
Pētījuma rezultātā ir atklāts, ka postmodernismam raksturīgās iezīmes ir sastopamas alternatīvajā literatūrā, kas radusies šajā laika periodā. Naratīva fragmentācija, objekta dekonstrukcija, kā arī tagadnes pārvērtēšana vēstures izmaiņu kontekstā līdz ar žanru raskturojošajām iezīmēm, kas sevī ietver alternatīvās realitātes radīšanai nepieciešamo novirzes punktu vēsturē un spekulācijas par šo izmaiņu sekām, definē alternatīvo vēsturi postmodernismā. Alternatīvajai vēsturei ir tendence piemērot savām vajadzībām iezīmes, kas raksturīgas laika periodam, kurā literārais darbs ticis rakstīts, atspoguļojot autora personību, kā arī lasītāju interses, lai pētītu pagātni caur iespējamām izmaiņām vēsturē un šo izmaiņu atskaņām tagadnē.
Alternatīvā vēsture ir plašs žanrs, kas spēj runāt par dažādiem tematiem dažādos laika periodos, dodot autoram brīvību manipulēt ar vēstures faktiem, kas atrodas novirzes punkta pamatā, sižeta attīstības vajadzībām, tomēr žanrs balstās uz vēstures faktiem un raksturo darba radīšanas laikmetu un tā radītāju autoru. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | The focus of the thesis is alternative history in postmodern literature. The research in the paper is conducted by examining the characteristics of postmodernism as a contemporary phenomenon in society and literature and the effect it has had on the development of historical research, using theoretical and empirically collected data by a number of authors.
In order to study alternative history in literature the research investigates the development of the genre of alternative history and the popular tendencies in postmodern alternative history fiction through a study of two novels written in the genre of alternative history – Stephen Fry’s “Making History” and Robert Harris’s “Fatherland”. The novels are analysed in the context of their genre-affiliation as well as by the postmodern characteristics they possess.
The research conducted has revealed that the properties characteristic of postmodernism are equally prominent in alternative history produced in the time period. Fragmented narrative, deconstruction of the subject as well as an aspect of re-assessment of the present in the context of historical alterations defines postmodern alternative history along with the characteristics of the genre itself, which include a divergence point from history necessary for the formation of the alternative universe and the speculations about the repercussions of the changes, alternative history tends to adapt the characteristics of the time period in which it is written, reflecting the author’s voice as well as the interest of the reader to explore the past through the possibilities of historical alteration and the repercussions on the present.
Alternative history is a broad genre capable of working with different subjects in different time periods and gives the author the freedom to manipulate the historical facts at the basis of the divergence point for the benefit of the development of the story and still it is formed on the basis of historical facts and is descriptive of the era of creation and the author responsible for it. | en_US |
