Dāvida Lodža „Mazā pasaule” un „Paradīzes jaunumi” kā piedzīvojumu romāni

Abstract

Maģistra darbā „Deivida Lodža „Mazā pasaule” un „Paradīzes Jaunumi” kā piedzīvojumu romāni” mērķis ir pievērst uzmanību piedzīvojuma žanra dažādām īpatnībām mūsdienu angļu romānista darbos. Darbs arī atklāj postmodernā piedzīvojumu romāna varoņa rakstura īpatnības. Pirmā nodaļa izceļ klasiskā 16. gadsimta spāņu literatūras piedzīvojumu romāna svarīgākās īpatnības. Šī nodaļa pēta apstākļus, kas palīdzējuši žanra attīstībai Anglijā. Otrā nodaļa pievērš uzmanību Deivida Lodža liktenim, kas kā dzinējspēks iespaido viņa pasaules uztveri tādējādi veidojot rakstnieka romānu galvenās idejas un viņa piedzīvojumu romāna varoni. Rakstnieka daiļrades detalizētas izpētes rezultātā trešajā nodaļā maģistra darba autore mēģina izzināt galvenās piedzīvojuma žanra iezīmes Deivida Lodža darbos "Mazā pasaule" un "Paradīzes jaunumi". Romānista darbi tiek skatīti spāņu un angļu klasiskā piedzīvojumu romāna aspektā. Izpēte tika veikta, balstoties uz vēsturiskiem materiāliem, hronoloģiskiem avotiem un biogrāfiskiem tekstiem. Visu maģistra darba secinājumu pamatā ir divu Deivida Lodža romānu analīze un vēsturiskie fakti.

The main aim of the present Master Paper entitled “David Lodge’s Small World and Paradise News as Picaresque Novels” is to discuss the main features of the picaresque genre in the contemporary English novelist’s works. The paper also focuses on revealing the characteristic traits of the classical picaresque hero in postmodern Picaro. The first chapter defines the most important features of the picaresque genre in Spanish literature of the sixteenth century. The chapter also investigates the circumstances of the genre’s development in England. The second chapter gives an overview of David Lodge’s fate as the force, which promotes and influences his perception of the world and, consequently, forms the ideas exhibited in the writer’s novels; the force that forms his picaresque heroes. In the third chapter by means of careful investigation of the novelist’s creative work, the author of the paper tries to discover the main features of the picaresque genre in David Lodge’s Small World and Paradise News. The novelist’s works are examined from the perspective of the Spanish and English classical picaresque novel traditions. The research was done on the basis of historical materials, chronicles, biographical texts and two novels written by David Lodge.
