The present Bachelor Paper is a research of British Romantic poets of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and their vision of child and childhood of their time. The goal of the work is to demonstrate how the theme of child and childhood was reflected in the poetic writing of Romanticism. The Paper shows the most notable tendencies among the poets as well as in the modern sociological studies concerning different issues of childhood.
The results of the present research show the deep concern of such poets as W. Wordsworth, S. T. Coleridge and the other minor poets of the Romantic movement for childhood and children as epitome of moral values together with their general attraction to nature. The great philosophical thoughts of the eighteenth century mostly of Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau influenced the mindset of the Romanticism and the Romantic poets.
