Brīvās netiešās runas pielietojums Džeinas Ostinas romānā „Mensfīldpārka”

Abstract

Šajā maģistra darbā tiek pētīts brīvās netiešās runas pielietojums Džeinas Ostinas romānā „Mensfīldpārka” un analizētas šīs runas funkcijas un iespaids, ko rada šis vēstījuma paņēmiens, dodot autorei iespēju attīstīt stāstu un piešķirt jēgu romānam kā vienotam veselumam. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt brīvās netiešās runas, trešās personas vēstījuma un ironijas savienojumu, kuru Dž. Ostina izmanto romānā „Mensfīldpārka”, lai atklātu un aprakstītu romāna galvenās tēmas, tādas kā mīlestība, ģimenes attiecības un saistības, un sabiedrības likumi. Darba gaitā veikta romāna teksta un diskursa analīze, veicot pētījumu par Dž. Ostinas rakstības stilu un tehnisko meistarību, kā arī salīdzināti dažādu kritiķu uzskati par rakstnieces ieguldījumu brīvās netiešās runas attīstībā 18. un 19. gadsimtu mijā.

The present paper is carried out to explore the usage of free indirect discourse in Jane Austen’s novel “Mansfield Park” and to examine its functions and the effects this narrative technique produces, enabling the author to develop the story and to give the meaning to the novel as a whole. The purpose of the paper is to study the combination of free indirect discourse, third-person point-of-view and irony employed by J. Austen in “Mansfield Park” in order to reveal and describe the main topics of the novel, such as love, family relationships and obligations, as well as the rules of the society. In order to reach the goal textual and discourse analyses of the novel have been carried out, investigating technical mastery of Jane Austen, as well as discussing different critical views about her contribution to the development of free indirect discourse taking place at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
