Vēsturiskums Džordža Eliota romānos

Abstract

Šis pētījums ar nosaukumu Vēsturiskums Džordža Eliota romānos aplūko Džordža Eliota vēsturiskos romānus Ādams Bīds, Midlmārča: Provinciālās dzīves pētījums un Daniels Deronda. Pētījuma mērķi ir: noskaidrot Džordža Eliota vēsturiskā romāna koncepciju, pēc kuras viņa vadījās rakstot savus romānus, kā arī veikt romānos aprakstīto vēsturisko notikumu analīzi. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka lielākā daļa no Džordža Eliota romānos skartajiem vēsturiskajiem notikumiem ir patiess Anglijas 18. un 19. gadsimta reālo vēsturisko notikumu attēlojums. Rakstnieces pievēršanās vēsturei ir skaidrojama ar to, ka viņa gribēja pievērst savu lasītāju uzmanību vēsturiskām pārmaiņām pims un viņas dzīves laikā. The present research paper under the title Historicism in George Eliot’s Novels deals with the analysis of George Eliot’s historical novels Adam Bede, Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life and Daniel Deronda. The objectives of the present research are: to clarify the concept of the historical novel which George Eliot was guided by during the process of creation of her novels, and to make an analysis of the historical events mentioned in the novels. The following research methods are employed: the historical research and the content analysis. The results of the research show that most of the historical events mentioned by George Eliot in her novels are a true depiction of real historical events which took place in England in the 18th and 19th centuries. By turning to history the novelist wanted to draw her readers’ attention to the peculiarities of historical changes before and during her lifetime.
