Abstract

Šajā darbā aplūkota etnisko un reliģisko minoritāšu attīstība no Otomaņu impērijas līdz Turcijas Republikai. Galvenais mērķis ir atspēkot literatūrā sastopamo viedokli par šķietami harmoniskām mazākuma grupu attiecībām Otomaņu impērijas laikā. Aplūkots jautājums par to, kas uzskatāms par Otomaņu mantojumu un vai Turcijas Republika var tikt uztverta kā tieša impērijas mantiniece. Ieskicētas Turcijas etnisko minoritāšu grupas sākot ar 20. gs. vidu, tuvāk aplūkojot vienu no tām – kurdus. Raksturota reliģisko minoritāšu situācija jaunizveidotajā Turcijas valstī un Turcijas politika minoritāšu jautājumā Eiropas Savienības paplašināšanās kontekstā. Apskatīts armēņu liktenis kopš Otomaņu impērijas sabrukuma līdz mūsdienām. Centrā izvirzīts pētījums par armēņu genocīdu un tā pretrunīgiem vērtējumiem. This paper deals with the development of ethnic and religious minorities from the time of the Ottoman Empire until the Republic of Turkey. The main purpose is to disprove the opinion met in the literature of seemingly harmonious relations between the minority groups in the time of the Ottoman Empire. Another issue discussed is what should be considered Ottoman legacy and weather Turkey could be regarded as a direct legatee of the Ottoman Empire. The study outlines ethnic minority groups in Turkey starting with middle of the 20th century, turning to one of them – the Kurds. The research reveals position of religious minorities in the new-established Turkish state as well as the policy of Turkey regarding minority issue in connection with the expansion of the European Union. The study shows the fate of the Armenians since the collapse of the Ottoman Empire until nowadays. It focuses on the Armenian genocide and its contradictory evaluation.
