Mārgaretas Atvudas stāstu humānistiskais potenciāls

Abstract

Jeļenas Šakures bakalaura darbs ir mēģinājums izpētīt un aprakstīt cilvēcīguma modeļus, kurus ietver Margaretas Atvudas stāstu krājumi Dejojošās meitenes (1977), Izdzīvošanas padomi (1991) un Morāles traucējums (2006). Darbu veido katra atsevišķa krājuma ilustratīvā analīze, kas sistemātiski izklāsta humānistisko attieksmju funkcijas vairākos Atvudas stāstos. Atklājot šo idejiski tematisko aspektu Atvudas tekstos, bakalaura darbs paplašina izpratni par Atvudas daiļradi un sekmē interesi par tajā ietvertajām humānistiskajām vērtībām, kuru aktualizācija literārajos tekstos un individuālajā pieredzē nenoliedzami paplašina cilvēka spējas izprast gan sevi, gan savus līdzcilvēkus. Šis pētījums ir tendēts uz ētisku analīzi, tādēļ tā metodoloģiskie aspekti ir saistāmi ar mūsdienu ētisko kritiķu, ētisko filozofu un globālās humānistu kustības koncepcijām. Šo koncepciju apskats veido daļu no šī darba. Darba pārējā daļa ir veltīta Atvudas stāstu visaptverošai analīzei.

Jeļena Šakure’s Bachelor thesis is an attempt to study and describe the patterns of humanity as manifested in Margaret Atwood’s short stories (Dancing Girls (1977), Wilderness Tips (1991) and Moral Disorder (2006)). The paper contains a representative analysis of each volume and systematically lays out the humanistic values celebrated in the texts, proving that they indeed affirm humanism as the most productive and fulfilling ethos. By revealing this aspect, the paper contributes to a fuller understanding of Atwood’s work and promotes the appreciation of its humanistic impulse, which is essential for the pursuit of a better understanding not only of our own selves but also of our fellow humans. With its ethical slant, the methodological aspect of this study heavily relies on the work of the contemporary ethical critics of literature, ethical philosophers and the global humanist movement. An outline of their ideas forms part of this study alongside the analysis of Atwood’s texts.
