Abstract

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt Valtera Skota dzīvi un darbus kā arī to ietekmi uz Skotijas tēlu un tās vēstures izpratni. Iemesli, ka Valters Skots ir leģendārs un neaizmirstams rakstnieks, ir apspriesti caur viņa poēmām un romāniem. Pirmajās trīs poēmās “The Lay of the Last Minstrel”, “Marmion”, un “The Lady of the Lake” Valters Skots apraksta Skotiju kā leģendāru, romantisku un gleznainu valsti. Biogrāfiski-vēsturiskas poēmas Rockeby” un “The Lord of the Isles” ir pēdējie Valtera Skota dzejas darbi, viņš turpināja rakstīt jau prozā, atklādams jaunu žanru. Izmantojot vēsturiskos faktus, fikciju un realitāti pirmā novelē “Waverley”, Valters Skots kļuva par ļoti ietekmīgu cilvēku Skotijā, kas pārveidoja tās tradīcijas, kuras saglabājās līdz mūsu dienām.

The Bachelor paper concentrates on investigating Walter Scott’s life and works and their influence on the image of Scotland and interpretation of its history. Reasons for Walter Scott becoming a legendary writer, memorable in present Scotland, are discussed through his historical poems and novels. In the first three poems “The Lay of the Last Minstrel”, “Marmion” and “The Lady of the Lake” Walter Scott describes Scotland as a legendary, romantic and picturesque country. The following poems “Rockeby” and “The Lord of the Isles” are biographical and historical poems, are the last poems as Walter Scott started writing prose inaugurating a a new genre. Using historical facts, fiction and also reality in the first novel “Waverley”, Walter Scott became the most influential man who reformed Scotland’s traditions to the present day.
