| dc.description.abstract | Bakalaura darbs salīdzina kā kognitīvās metaforas tiek izmantotas latviešu un angļu avīzēs. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt kā viens notikums t.s. zirga gaļas skadāls (2013) tiek aprakstīts katrā avīzē metaforās un kādas metaforas tiek lietotas lai panāktu attiecīgu efektu. Pētījuma mērķim autore izraudzījās divas dažādas avīzes „Latvijas Avīze” un „The Sun”. Kas attiecas uz analīzes metodēm, tika lietota Metaforu Identifikācijas Procedūra (MIP).Pētījuma rezultāti pierāda, ka abos avīžu žanros- gan tabloīdā, gan laikrakstā visbiežāk lietotie kognitīvo metaforu tipi sakrīt (masu mediji abās valstīs izmanto tādas pašas metaforas skandāla attēlojumam).

| dc.description.abstract | The Bachelor thesis is comparing the usage of cognitive metaphors in English and Latvian newspapers. The goal of research is to investigate how the same event, that is the so-called horse meat scandal (2013) is described in each newspaper trough metaphors and what types of metaphors are used to achieve distinct effects. For the purpose of the research the author has selected two different newspapers “Latvijas Avīze” and “The Sun”. Concerning the methods of analysis, Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP) is used. The results of research prove that in both genres- tabloid and broadsheet the usage of cognitive metaphors is similar (mass media of both countries use the same metaphors to reflect on the scandal).
