dc.description.abstract | The Bachelor Paper “Comparison of Charles Dickens’ Novel “David Copperfield” and Its’ Screen Version” analyses differences and similarities between the book and three films, shot in the years 1935, 1999 and 2000. The paper compares, firstly, the plot of the novel with the scripts of each film and secondly, the most important heroes from the book with their representations in the films.
Ch. Dickens’ novel written in 1849-1850, describes the life of a boy from his childhood till the years of his youth. This novel can be considered the most autobiographical novel from Ch. Dickens’ writings. The leading idea of the paper is to compare the novel and three films, to find and to describe differences and similarities between the book and each film, and to prove that writing the book and making the film are two different types of art. The author concludes that every film director understands the book in his/her own way and makes the film as a new reading of the novel.
