Diplomdarba nosaukums ir „Filmu tulkošana: izaicinājums tulkotājam” un tajā ir aprakstīta filmu tulkošana un dažādas problēmas, ar kuram tulkotājs sastopas, tulkojot filmas. Filma kļuva par vispopulārāko saziņas līdzekļi starp dažādam kultūrām un tulkošana padara filmu saprotamu dažādu kultūru pārstāvjiem. Šajā diplomdarbā autors mēģināja izpētīt ar filmu tulkošanu saistītus jautājumus, lai darbs būtu noderīgs tulkotājiem viņu darbā. Diplomdarba autors sniedza dažādus piemērus ar tulkojumu latviešu valodā, aprakstot filmu tulkošanas aspektus. Rezultātā tika atklātas tulkošanas problēmas, tādas, kā, piemēram, nepareizs tulkojums, tulkojot filmu nosaukumus, grūtības vārdu un nosaukumu, lamu un izteicienu tulkošanā. Lai tulkojums būtu pareizs un atbilstošs, tulkotājam ir jāizmanto visi viņam/viņai pieejami resursi. Tas īpaši attiecas uz kultūras realitāšu tulkošanu. The name of the present diploma paper is „Film Translation: Challenge for Translator” and it is devoted to film translation and different problems which translator faces when translating a film. Film became one of the most popular medium of communication between cultures and it needs to be translated in order to be understandable to people, who belong to different cultures. The present diploma paper is an attempt to study out the questions related to the film translation for the purpose of producing a paper, which could be useful for translators when translating the films. The author of the paper presented different examples of the films with Latvian translation, demonstrating the different aspects of film translation. As a result, the main problems of translation were discovered, i.e. mistranslation of the titles of the film, difficulties when translating names, curses and vivid expressions. In order to provide correct translation, translator has to use all resources, available to him/her. It concerns, especially, translating of cultural realities, which differ in source and target cultures.
