Adaptētās literatūras valodnieciskie un kultūras mērķi

Abstract

Lasītprasme ir tikpat svarīga kā jebkura cita prasme, kas ir jāvingrina un jāattīsta. Pastāv divi galvenie lasīšanas veidi svešvalodā – intensīvā lasīšana un ekstensīvā lasīšana. Ekstensīvā lasīšana ir ļoti specifisks lasīšanas veids un ir mazāk pazīstams, jo tajā nepiedalās persona, kas vada un palīdz lasīšanas procesā, un tam ir nepieciešami īpaši materiāli – adaptētā literatūra. Adaptēto literatūru pielāgo konkrētam svešvalodas zināšanu līmenim, lai radītu patīkamai lasīšanai piemērotu vidi un lai lasītājs, kurš apgūst angļu valodu kā svešvalodu, iegūtu pārliecības sajūtu un motivāciju. Adaptācijas process ir ļoti sarežģīts, jo tas ietekmē ne tikai teksta pedagoģisko aspektu, bet arī tā literārās vērtības (stilu, izskatu). Šajā darbā tiek pētīts literāro darbu adaptācijas process, lai izprastu apstākļus, kas adaptētajā literatūrā traucē līdzsvarot iepriekš minētos aspektus. Informācija tika iegūta, apskatot un apkopojoši un salīdzinoši analizējot attiecīgo teorētisko literatūru un izmantojot teksta adaptēšanas pašnovērtējuma metodi. Darba rezultāti parāda, ka oriģinālais darbs zaudē tās pamatiezīmes, kas rada noteiktu stilistisko iespaidu, taču tiek veicināta lasītāja, kuram angļu valoda ir svešvaloda, teksta izpratne un valodas plūdums, kam lasīšanas procesā ir vislielākā nozīme. Tādējādi autors pierāda, ka noteiktas oriģinālā darba literārās iezīmes adaptējot tiek zaudētas, lai iegūtu iespēju attīstīt studenta valodas zināšanas, kas turpmāk būs nepieciešamas, lai varētu padziļināti novērtēt svešvalodā rakstīto literatūru.

Reading is an important skill which needs to be practised and developed just as any other human skill. There are two main ways of reading in a foreign language – intensive and extensive reading. Extensive reading is a rather specific way of reading, and it is less familiar as it is usually unguided and requires the use of specific materials – adapted readers. Adapted readers are adjusted to a particular level of foreign language knowledge to create the environment for pleasurable reading and develop EFL learner’s confidence and motivation. The adaptation process is very complex as it affects not only the pedagogic aspect of a text, but also its literary values (style, presentation). The current paper examines the adaptation process of literary works to understand what hinders the achievement of the balance between the above-mentioned features in adapted literature. The data of the research were gathered by review, summative analysis and comparative analysis of the relevant theoretical literature and method of self-reflection after text adaptation. The results of the research show that in the adaptation process the original work loses its main features that are used for a particular stylistic effect for the benefit of the EFL learner’s comprehension and fluency that are of the main importance during the reading process. Thus the author proves that certain literary features of the original work are eventually lost for the benefit of students’ language knowledge development that will be necessary in the future for deeper appreciation of literature written in a foreign language.
