Velniņi un to simbolika V. Hirtes un A. Šmulāna darbos tautas tradīcijas kontekstā

Abstract

Darbā „Velniņi un to simbolika V.Hirtes un A.Šmulāna darbos tautas tradīcijas kontekstā” tiek pētīti Vidzemes kokgriezēja V.Hirtes un Latgales keramiķa A.Šmulāna veidotie velni un Velna tēls latviešu folklorā. Katrs mākslinieks izgatavojis vairākus simtus velna figūru. Mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai un kā abi meistari varētu būt ietekmējušies no latviešu folkloras un mitoloģiskajiem priekšstatiem par Velnu. Pētījuma rezultātā secināts, ka priekšstats par Velnu gūts no folkloras – latviešu teikām, nostāstiem, pasakām. Tie personificēti un papildināti ar cilvēkam raksturīgām lietām un piederumiem, dažkārt visai ironiskā veidā norādot uz cilvēku netikumiem un vājībām.

The Paper „ Symbolism of Imps in Works of V.Hirte and A.Smulāns through Context of National Tradition” researches figures of imps made by woodcarver V. Hirte from Vidzeme and ceramist A. Smulāns from Latgale and the image of devil in Latvian folklore. Each of the artists has made several hundreds of imp figures. The aim of this paper is to study whether and how both artists could have been influenced from Latvian folklore and mythological concept of Devil. As a result of this research the author has concluded that the concept of Devil comes from folklore – Latvian legends, stories and tales. Imps have been personified with things and accessories characteristic to humans, sometimes ironically indicating to bad habits and weaknesses of people.
