Ar medicīnu saistīto tekstu tulkošana

Abstract

Šajā darbā ir aplūkota pašreizējā funkcionālā pieeja Speciālā lietojuma valodas (SLV) tekstu tulkošanā, pielietojot noteiktu formalitātes un sarežģītības līmeni attiecībā uz mērķauditoriju. Darbā ir atspoguļotas dažādas problēmas, kuras ir sastopamas angļu un latviešu medicīniski saistīto tekstu tulkošanā un mēģinājums konstatēt īpatnības, kas norāda uz šādu tekstu tulkojumu. Pētījuma gaitā tika pievērsta uzmanība Latvijas terminoloģijas un tulkošanas pirmsākumiem saistībā ar neiroloģijas nozari. Ļoti liela loma medicīnas terminoloģijā ir klasisko valodu lietojumam, kas rada grūtības mērķauditorijai uztvert attiecīgo informāciju. Īpaša uzmanība pievērsta vārdu veidošanai abās minētajās valodās, balstoties uz piemēriem no medicīnas literatūras. Prakstiskā daļa ietver pacienta neiroloģiskā izmeklējuma leksisku-semantisku adaptāciju no latviešu valodas angļu valodā un ar neiroloģiju saistīto terminu glosāriju, kura sastādīšanā autors ir izmantojis apjomīgu angļu valodā publicētu uzziņu literatūru. Darba mērķis ir konstatēt, izpētīt un analizēt galvenās problēmas, kuras rodas tulkojot leksikas vienībās ar medicīnu saistītos tekstos.

This paper is an attempt to assess the current survey on the functional approach to translation of LSP (Language for Specific Purposes) texts seen from the perspective of the level of formality and complexity applied to the target audience. This paper highlights the problems that are likely to be encountered in English and Latvian medicine-related translation and tries to establish certain possible factors that may lead to a theory regarding this sort of translation. The research was also focused on the development of medical translation and terminology in Latvia placing an emphasis on Neurological science. Origins from classical languages such as Greek and Latin have played a great role in influencing development of medical terminology. This causes difficulties to understand for the target audience. The author‘s discussion of the word-formation in both languages is supported by examples from medical context. In the practical part of the paper is disclosed lexical-semanic adaptation of patients’ clinical diagnosis from Latvian into English and an English – Latvian glossary of neurologic terms compiled by the author, using authoritative reference material in English. The aim of this research is to identify, study and analyse main problems that may occur in the process of translation of lexical units and terms of medicine related texts.
