Dzimums un mātišķums triloģijā "Svešie"

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs “Dzimums un mātišķums triloģijā Svešie” aplūko dzimuma un mātišķuma atspoguļojumu trijās filmās- Svešais, Svešie un Svešais 3, pastiprinātu uzmanību pievēršot galvenajai varonei Elenai Riplijai, viņas raksturam, viņas attieksmei un uzvedībai triloģijā. Šī bakalaura darba pamatuzdevums bija konstatēt un analizēt galveno varoni Elenu Ripliju, veidu kā viņa ir atspoguļota triloģijā Svešie un analizēt galvenās pazīmes, kas viņu atšķir no stereotipiskas sieviešu kārtas varones. Darba gaitā iegūtie rezultāti ļauj secināt, ka dzimuma un mātišķuma atspoguļojums triloģijā apstrīd dzimuma stereotipus. Šajās filmās galvenā varone Riplija ir atspoguļota kā stipra, neatkarīga sieviete, kurai nepārtraukti jācīnās ar vīrišķo dzimumu, lai tiktu sadzirdēta. Elena Riplija, kā tēls izaicina ierastās dzimuma lomas, jo triloģijā viņa ir varone, vienīgā izdzīvojusī, kura izrādās ir arī gudrāka par vīriešiem. Bakalaura darba teorētiskā daļa sastāv no divām nodaļām, kurās tiek aplūkots dzimums un mātišķums, to atspoguļojums amerikāņu kultūrā, masu medijos un literatūrā, mātes loma sabiedrībā, kā arī tajā ir iekļauta informācija par visām trīs filmām Svešie. Savukārt, bakalaura darba praktiskā daļa ietver pētījumu par dzimuma un mātišķuma atspoguļojumu triloģijā, galvenās varones Elenas Riplijas raksturojumu, viņas darbības analīzi dažādās filmas epizodēs. The present paper “Gender and motherhood in trilogy Alien” examines a representation of gender and motherhood in three films- Alien, Aliens and Alien 3, focusing on the protagonist Ellen Ripley, her character, her attitude and behaviour in the trilogy. The main goal of the present paper was to register and analyze the main features which differentiate her from a stereotypical female protagonist. The results obtained allow to draw a conclusion that the representation of gender and motherhood in the trilogy challenges gender stereotypes. In these films the protagonist Ripley is represented as a strong, independent female who frequently struggles with the male gender to get her voice be heard. Ellen Ripley as a character defies ordinary gender roles, because in the trilogy Alien she is the heroine, the sole survivor, who appears to be smarter than men. The theoretical part of the present paper consists of two chapters where questions of women’s identity, motherhood, gender, its representation in the American visual culture, in mass media and the mother’s role in society are discussed. The practical part of the paper includes the analysis of the representation of gender and motherhood in the trilogy, characterization of the protagonist Ellen Ripley and the analysis of her behaviour in different episodes from the films.
