Konkordances izmantojums vārdkopu mācīšanā

Abstract

Maģistra darbs iztirzā vārdu krājuma vietu angļu valodas sistēmā, kā arī apskata jaunākās tendences konkordanču un to krājumu izmantošanā valodas mācīšanas un mācīšanās procesā. Vairāki autori kā Sinklērs (Sinclair), Makārtijs (McCarthy), Luiss (Lewis), Kārters (Carter) un citi jau ir pastiprinājuši konkordanču nozīmību valodu mācīšanas un mācīšanās procesā, to aprakstot savos zinātniskajos darbos. Tomēr Latvijā šī pieeja ir ļoti jauna un neapgūta. Maģistra darba izstrādē pirmkārt tika pētīta literatūra par leksikas vietu valodu sistēmā un konkordanču, to krājumu un valodniecības nozares, kas tos pētī, attīstību. Lai pierādītu darba tēzi, ka konkordanču lietojums angļu valodas stundās sekmē angļu valodas vārdu krājuma apguvi, tika veikts pētījums ar Rīgas Imantas vidusskolas 11.klases 21 skolēnu. Skolēni atbildēja uz aptauju jautājumiem un veica pašvērtējumu, lai noteiktu viņu zināšanas par konkordancēm, kā arī lai izzinātu skolēnu attieksmi pret tradicionālajām un jaunajām leksikas apguves pieejām. Pirmās aptaujas dati parādīja skolēnu zināšanu par konkordancēm trūkumu. Vēlākie uzdevumu rezultāti un skolēnu atbilžu rezultāti apstiprināja, ka darbs ar konkordancēm motivēja skolēnus aktīvi piedalīties leksikas apguves procesā, jo šī bija jauna un interesanta pieredze skolēnu mācīšanās procesā. The present Master Thesis discusses the place of vocabulary in the English language system, as well as explores the newest trends in implementing concordancers and corpora in language teaching and learning process. Various researchers like Sinclair, McCarthy, Lewis, Carter and other have already discussed the importance of concordance in language teaching and learning. However, in Latvia it is still new and unexplored sphere. First, the literature on the place of vocabulary in the language system and the development of corpora, concordances and corpus linguistics was studied. A case study was chosen as a research method to prove that using concordancing lists activates the students’ deeper acquisition of English vocabulary. The practical research was carried out in Riga Imanta Secondary School with the group of 21 students from the 11th form. The students completed questionnaires and self-evaluating checklists that examined their knowledge about concordances and their attitude towards traditional and new approaches towards vocabulary teaching and learning process. Data obtained from the first questionnaire demonstrated the lack of information about corpora. Later, the analysis of piloted exercises and the students’ feedback showed that the activities and the work with concordances motivated the students to participate actively in the vocabulary acquisition process, as it was new and interesting experience.
