Stāstījuma stratēgijas Pola Ostera darbā "Ņujorkas triloģija"

Abstract

Šī darba tēma ir stāstījuma stratēģijas Pola Ostera darbā “Ņujorkas triloģija”. Centrālais darba uzdevums ir triloģijas romānu teksta analīze, salīdzinot tos ar attiecīgiem elementiem dažādos intertekstuāli nozīmīgos tekstos, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot Edgara Alana Po darbiem. Darbā tiek aplūkotas stāstījuma stratēģijas, kas izceļ stāstījuma metaliterāro aspektu.

Darba mērķis bija pierādīt, ka Pola Ostera stāstījuma stratēģijas “Ņujorkas triloģijas” romānos ne tikai akcentē postmodernā teksta intertekstuālo un metaliterāro raksturu, bet arī bezgalīgās iespējas tā interpretācijā.

Darba autore analizējusi teorētiskos materiālus un, analizējot Ostera romānus, sekojusi teksta analīzes vadlīnijām Rolāna Bārta, Braiena Makheila, Šlomitas Rimonas-Kenanas, Deivida Lodža, Umberto Eko un citu literāro kritiķu un teorētiķu darbos. Kā piemērotākā postmoderno tekstu analīzei tika izvēlēta poststrukturālā pieeja. Pētījuma gaitā pierādīts, ka Pola Ostera triloģiju var uzskatīt par postmodernā detektīvžanra darbu, kas plaši izmanto intertekstualitātes iespējas. Darba gaitā atklātas negaidītas sakarības – piemēram, intertekstuāls paralēlisms ar E. A. Po dzejoli “Krauklis”.

The present paper is devoted to narrative strategies in Paul Auster’s work “The New York Trilogy.” The central point of the work is to compare novels of the trilogy with appropriate elements in intertextually important texts, with a special focus to works of Edgar Allan Poe. Additionally, the narrative strategies have been traced that highlight the metafictional aspects of the texts. The attested hypothesis is that Paul Auster’s narrative strategies in the novels of “The New York Trilogy” accentuate the intertextual and metafictional nature of the postmodern text and the infinite possibilities for its interpretation.

The author of the paper has analysed the theoretical material, following the guidelines in textual analysis from writings of Roland Barthes, Brian McHale, Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan, Umberto Eco, David Lodge and other literary critics and theoreticians. The post-structuralist approach has been chosen as the most appropriate for the analysis of the postmodern texts.

The findings of the work suggest that Paul Auster’s trilogy can be classified as the postmodern mystery fiction that exploits the possibilities of intertextuality. During the research new unexpected connections have been found, e.g. an intertextual parallelism to poem by Poe “The Raven”.
