Satiksmes līdzekļu nosaukumu evolūcija angļu valodā
Abstract
Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīta transporta līdzekļu nosaukumu evolūcija angļu valodā. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt izvēlēto piemēru īpatnības, veikt to etimoloģisko analīzi, kā arī atklāt galvenos attiecīgās terminoloģijas attīstības virzienus. Bakalaura darbā izmantota būtiskāko, ar pētījumu saistīto teorētisko avotu analīze, kvantitatīvā biežuma sadalījuma izpētes metode, kā arī ar pētījumu saistīto piemēru izlases kvalitatīvā analīze. Pētījuma teorētiskā daļa aplūko etimoloģijas zinātni un izskaidro etimoloģiskās kļūdas, sniedz ieskatu transporta līdzekļu attīstības vēsturē, savstarpēji sasaista terminu un vārdu, kurš apraksta jaunu ideju, kā arī izpēta aizguvumus un vārdu veidošanas veidus. Pētījums aptvēra simts zemes, gaisa un ūdens transporta līdzekļu nosaukumu apkopojumu, kuri tika izvēlēti pēc nejaušības principa, kā arī analīzes kopsavilkumu, kas ietvēra sevī no trim dažādām etimoloģijas vārdnīcām iegūtu informāciju par transporta līdzekļu nosaukumu izcelsmi un veidošanos. Pēt The Bachelor Thesis investigates the evolution of names of vehicles in the English language. The aim of the research is to study the peculiarities, perform etymological analysis of the selected samples, and to reveal trends in the development of the respective terminology. The research methods used in the present paper are theoretical analysis of relevant resources pertaining to the research theme, quantitative frequency distribution analysis and qualitative analysis of a sample of terms pertaining to the research area. The theoretical part of the research describes the science of etymology and explains etymological fallacies, gives an insight in the history of development of vehicles, correlates between a term and a word as designator of new notion as well as studies borrowing and types of word-formation. The research covered a sample of one hundred randomly selected land, air and water vehicle names and a summary analysis of information of origin and formation of names of vehicles
