Nowadays, public speaking skills as well as the knowledge of speech ethics are significant for building business and advancing a career. The goal of the research is to study the use of lexical and syntactic repetitions in business speeches. There are three research methods used in the present Bachelor thesis, the first of which is the comparative analysis of the relevant theoretical sources regarding the theme. In the empirical part of the research the frequency analysis and the text analysis of the use of lexical and syntactic repetitions in the selected business speeches were performed. The results of the frequency analysis of the data led to the conclusions that the most frequently used type of lexical repetition is ordinary repetition, and the most often used type of syntactic repetition is anaphora. The most common functions of the repetitions identified in the selected business speeches are to create emphasis, as well as to provide cohesion and coherence.
