Amerikas pārdomāšana Džeka Keruaka romānā „Ceļā”

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts Džeka Keruaka romānam „Ceļā” un tā ideoloģiskai un estētiskai vērtībai 1950. gadu Amerikas kontekstā. Pirmkārt, darbā pētīts 1950. gadu Amerikas politiskais, sociālais un kultūras fons, lai noskaidrotu kas ietekmēja Bītu paaudzes rašanos. Pēc tam darbā analizēta Džeka Keruaka Amerikas īstenības pārdomāšana romānā „Ceļā”, izmantojot tā stāstījumu, tēlus un simbolus. Rezultāti ļauj secināt, ka Keruaks ne tikai rada pilnīgi jaunu skatu uz Ameriku, bet arī jaunā veidā traktē Bītu subkultūru un tās idejas.

This bachelor thesis is devoted to Jack Kerouac’s novel "On the Road" and its ideological and esthetical value in the context of America of the 1950s. Firstly, this work examines the political, social, and cultural backgrounds of America of the 1950s in order to find out what influenced the emergence of the Beat Generation. Then it studies Jack Kerouac’s re-thinking of American reality in "On the Road" through its narrative, characters, and symbols. The results lead to the conclusion that Kerouac not only shows a completely new vision of America, but also suggests re-thinking of the Beat subculture and its ideas.
