Idiomas populāru dziesmu tekstos

Abstract

Bakaulaura darba tēma ir idiomas populāru dziesmu tekstos. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt idiomu lietojumu Billboard ‘Summer Songs 1985-2014: Top 10 Tunes of Summer’ vārdos, kuri ņemti no katra gada pirmās vietas dziesmas. Pētījuma jautājumi ir šādi: 1) Vai idiomu daudzums dziesmu vārdu gadu laikā ir samazinājies? 2) Kurš idiomu kombinācijas veids tiek lietots visbiežāk? 3) Ko idiomu izskaidrojums atklāj par dziesmu vārdu nozīmi ? Bakalaura darba autore ir izmantojusi Seidl un McMordie(1978) idiomu klasifikācijas veidu. Citi valodas pētnieki izmantoti šajā darbā ir Fernando (1996), Paquot un Granger (2008), Cowie (1998), Renkema (2009) un Aleshinskaya (2013). Pēc apkopoto idiomu kvantitīvās analīzes tika secināts, ka idiomu skaits gadu laikā nav samazinājies. Visbiežāk sastopamais idiomu kombinācijas veids ir darbības vārds + lietvārds. Pēc diskursa analīzes tika secināts, ka idiomas dziesmu vārdus izmanto, lai palīdzētu paskaidrot dziesmas pamatdomu.

The present Bachelor thesis examines the use of idioms in popular song lyrics. The goal of the paper is to study the use of idioms in the Billboard ‘Summer Songs 1985-2014: Top 10 Tunes of Summer’, taking number 1 song from each year. The research questions are: 1) Has the amount of idioms decreased through those thirty years? 2) Which type of idiom combination is used the most? 3) What does the meaning of idioms reveal about the meaning of the lyrics? The author of the paper used idiom classification by Seidl and McMordie (1978).Other scholarly works used in the research are by Fernando (1996), Granger and Paquot (2008), Cowie (1998), Renkema (2009), Aleshinkaya (2013), etc. After the quantitative analysis it was concluded that the amount of idioms in the song lyrics has not decreased through the years, and that the most frequent idiom combination was verb + noun collocation. After text analysis, the author made a conclusion those idioms in song lyrics help to reveal the meaning of the lyrics in the song.
