Rakstu valodas vēstījumam kopā ar interpunkciju jāpanāk domas skaidrību un precizitāti, atvieglojot lasītājam pareizu teikuma izprašanu. Maģistra darba “Domuzīme latviešu interpunkcijā” uzdevumi paredz apkopot un sistematizēt informāciju par domuzīmes vēsturisko attīstību, analizēt domuzīmes lietojuma funkcijas un tendences mūsdienu rakstu valodā. Pētījuma mērķis apzināt domuzīmes lietojuma galvenās funkcijas un attīstību mūsdienu latviešu rakstu valodā ir sasniegts, ekscerpējot piemērus no periodiskajiem izdevumiem, daiļliteratūras materiāliem, zinātniskajiem un lietišķajiem rakstiem. Kā rezultātā ir sasistematizētas biežāk sastopamās domuzīmes funkcijas mūsdienu valodas praksē, kā arī konstatētas biežāk sastopamās domuzīmes lietojuma neprecizitātes, sniedzot ieteikumus pareizam pieturzīmju lietojumam, raugoties no normatīvā viedokļa. Written language together with punctuation must give thought clearness and precision, making it easier for the reader to understand a sentence correctly. The tasks of master thesis ”Dash in Latvian language” intend to compile and systematize information about the historical development of dash, to analyze its functions and tendencies in modern written language. The aim of the research – to identify the main functions of the dash and development in modern Latvian written language – is achieved by excerpting examples from periodical publications, fiction, scientific and official business style materials. As a result, functions of the dash, which are used often in modern language, are systematized, and common using inaccuracies of the dash are stated, giving suggestions for the correct use of the punctuation, according to the standard.
