Abstract

Pētījums Speciāli darināto īpašvārdu atveide un tulkošana daiļliteratūrā tapis, lai aplūkotu tulkošanas stratēģiju pielietojumu noteikta daiļliteratūrā lietoto īpašvārdu krājuma tulkošanā. Pētījuma objekti ir daiļiteratūra, ko sarakstījuši tādi autori kā Dž. R. R. Mārtins, Dž. K. Roulinga, Dž. R. R. Tolkīns un H. P. Lavkrafts. Teorētiskā pētījuma daļa liecina, ka īpašvārdus var uztvert kā daļu no kultūru reālijām un atkarībā no tulkojuma mērķa, tulkojuma procesā var izmantot dažādas tulkošanas pieejas. Īpašvārdu tulkojumu piemēri tiek apspriesti, lai atklātu izmantotās pieejas un iespējamos soļus tulkošanas procesā, kas sperti, lai nonāktu pie attiecīgā rezultāta, kā arī tulkošanas kļūdas un to iespējamās sekas.

The main goal of Rendition and Translation of Specially Designed Proper Nouns in Fiction is to review the translation strategies applied in the translation of a selected corpus of fictional proper nouns. The research objects are fictional texts written by such authors as G. R. R. Martin, J. K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien and H. P. Lovecraft. The theoretical research shows that proper nouns can be considered as a part of culture specific items, and that depending on the purpose of translation different strategies can be used during the translation process. The proper noun translation examples are discussed to uncover the strategies used and the potential course taken to arrive at the respective result, as well as translation errors and their potential consequences.
