The subject of the present study is the identity issues of the Maghrebians (North Africans), i.e. Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians in the context of immigration, as well as the literary discourse analysis comprising this topic in the novels of the Moroccan writer Tahar Ben Jelloun. The methodology of our research is the literary discourse analysis. This includes linguistics, literature, cultural, and intercultural studies. The mentality differences represented by the religion, culture and traditions prevent the Maghrebian immigrants’ integration in the French society. That phenomenon is appointed as exile in the novels of Tahar Ben Jelloun, and it can have different interpretations depending on the character’s role in the community, his personal experience and his worldview.en_US
