Pagānisms Igaunijā: koku loma cilvēku dzīvē

Abstract

Darba būtība ir apskatīt, kāda ir pagānisma saistība ar dabu, tātad arī kokiem. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāda ir igauņu attieksme pret kokiem, kāda ir koku nozīme igauņu dzīvē, un salīdzināt, kā šī mijiedarbība ir laika gaitā mainījusies. Darba uzdevumi ir apkopot teorētisko materiālu par to, kas ir ticība, reliģija un pagānisms, kāda ir koku loma igauņu tradīcijās; intervēt igauņus, lai noskaidrotu, kāda ir mūsdienu igauņu attieksme pret kokiem; salīdzināt, kā koku un cilvēku mijiedarbība laika gaitā ir mainījusies; kā arī izdarīt secinājumus. Pētījuma rezultāti rāda, ka intervēto igauņu apziņā koki ir dzīvas un apgarotas būtnes. Tomēr nav skaidrs, vai koki jūt sāpes tā, kā to dara cilvēki. Ja runā par tradīcijām, tad viņi pārsvarā ievēro tās, kuras ir saistītas ar svētku noskaņas radīšanu, neiedziļinoties to būtībā.

The essence of this work is to look at what is paganism’s connection with nature, consequently also with trees. The aim of this work is to find out what is Estonian attitude towards trees, what is the role of the tree in the life of an Estonian and to compare how this interaction has changed over time. The goals of this work are to find theoretical material about faith, religion, paganism and about the role of the tree in Estonian traditions, to interview Estonians and find out what is their attitude towards trees, to compare how interaction of people and trees has changed over time. Research results show that those Estonians, who were interviewed, believe that trees are living and spiritualized beings. However it is not clear whether trees are able to feel pain such as people do. If we speak about traditions, Estonians most often hold onto those traditions, which create the atmosphere of feast, but do not delve deeper into its essence.
