Šamisena un tā mūzikas inovācijas pēc 2. pasaules kara

Abstract

Maģistra darbs „Šamisena un tā mūzikas inovācijas pēc 2. pasaules kara” ir veltīts japāņu tradicionālā instrumenta šamisena un tā mūzikas padziļinātai izpētei pēc Otrā pasaules kara. Konkrēti tiek pētītas laika gaitā radītās instrumenta mūzikas un spēles stila inovācijas, kā arī ko šīs izmaiņas nozīmē mūsdienu mūzikas kontekstā. Tēmas aktualitāte tiek balstīta uz to, ka pēdējo divdesmit gadu laikā šamisena pielietojums japāņu sabiedrībā ir pastiprinājies, kā arī plaši izplatījies ārpus Japānas. Šis instruments ir ieguvis popularitāti ne tikai vecāko paaudžu vidū, bet arī jauniešu starpā, un tiek lietots daudzu moderno mūzikas stilu izpildīšanai. Darba mērķis bija izpētīt izmaiņas, ar kurām sastapās tradicionālais šamisens un tā mūziķi, lai nonāktu līdz mūsdienās pastāvošai modernā šamisena populārajai kultūrai. Tika secināts, ka neskatoties uz vairākām paša instrumenta, spēles stila un mūzikas inovācijām, šamisens ir spējis saglabāt savas tradicionālās un kulturālās vērtības, tai pašā laika neatpaliekot no laicīgās mūzikas attīstības un izplatības, kā arī gūstot popularitāti arī ārpus Japānas robežām. Darbs sastāv sešām daļām, pirmajā daļā iepazīstinot ar tradicionālā šamisena uzbūvi, repertuāru un kulturālajiem kontekstiem. Otrajā daļā tiek aprakstīta Rietumu mūzikas ienākšana un ietekme Japānā, un kā šī ietekme konkrēti atspoguļojās uz šamisenu. Trešajā, ceturtajā un piektajā daļā tiek apskatīta pēckara modernā šamisena uzbūves, spēles stilu un repertuāra inovācijas, kā arī instrumenta lietošanas situācijas un nozīme mūsdienu kultūras kontekstā. Sestajā daļā tiek izpētīts šamisena pielietojums un izplatība ārpus Japānas, konkrēti aprakstot Šveices un Amerikas gadījumus. Darba garums ir 65 lapas, neskaitot titullapu un literatūras sarakstu.

The master’s thesis is titled „Innovations of Shamisen and Its Music after the Second World War” and it focuses on a deep analysis of the traditional Japanese musical instrument shamisen and its music after the Second World War. The music and playing style of the instrument is examined specifically, as well as considering the meaning of these changes in contemporary musical context. The importance of this topic lies with the fact that in the last twenty years the use of shamisen in Japanese society has notably increased and it also has spread to countries other than Japan. This instrument has gained popularity not only in the senior society but also between the youth nowadays, and it is being constantly used to perform modern musical styles. The purpose of this thesis was to show the changes that the shamisen and its musicians had to go through to reach the modern shamisen’s popular culture. It has been concluded that despite many innovations that the instrument, its playing styles and music had to go through, the shamisen has been able to maintain its traditional and cultural values, at the same time keeping pace with secular music developments and prevalence, and also gaining popularity outside the borders of its own country. This thesis consists of six chapters, the first describing the construction, repertoire and cultural contexts of traditional shamisen. The second chapter deals with how the Western music influenced and entranced Japan, and also how this influence has affected shamisen in particular. The third, fourth and fifth chapters deal with the after war innovations of modern shamisen construction, playing styles and repertoire, also including the use of the instrument and its meaning in today’s cultural context. The sixth chapter analyses the use and prevalence of shamisen outside of Japan, specifically examining the cases of Switzerland and America. This thesis is 65 pages long, title page and bibliography excluded.
