Homeopātija – starp alternatīvo un biomedicīnas nozari Latvijā

Abstract

Homeopātija ir viena no populārākajām alternatīvās medicīnas praksēm Latvijā. Homeopātija ir ārstu papildspecialitāte, tāpēc visiem homeopātiem ir biomedicīnas izglītība. Pētījumā tiek pievērsta uzmanība ārstiem homeopātiem, kas apvieno biomedicīnu ar alternatīvo ārstniecības praksi, tādā veido tuvinot homeopātiju biomedicīnai. Pētījuma teorētiskajā daļā pētu robežas, kuras, apvienojot dažādās medicīnas specialitātes, tiek pārkonstruētas. Robežas tiek skatītas epistemioloģiskajā, leģitimitātes, profesionālās identitātes un organizatoriskajās dimensijās. Lai īstenotu pētījuma mērķi, tika veiktas intervijas ar ārstiem homeopātiem, kas praktizē homeopātiju, apvienojot to ar ģimenes ārsta vai pediatra praksi. Nojaucot robežas, ārsti homeopāti atrodas starp biomedicīnu un alternatīvo medicīnu. Iegūtie rezultāti atklāj, ka esot starp biomedicīnas un homeopātijas speciālitātēm netiek pretnostatītas medicīnas zināšanas. Tomēr, apgūstot homeopātiju biomedicīnas speciālistiem izjūt nepieciešamību pārkonstruēt medicīnisko domāšanu. Neskatoties uz to, ka biomedicīnas zināšanas nodrošina autoritāti speciālisti sevi tuvina homeopātijai.

Homeopathy is one of the most popular alternative medicine practices in Latvia. Homeopathy is an additional medical specialty; therefore all homeopaths have completed biomedical education. The study focuses on the work of homeopathic doctors who combine biomedicine with the alternative medical practice in order to bring homeopathy nearer to biomedicine. In the theoretical part of the study the investigation concentrates on the boundaries, which are reconstructed by combining different medical specialties. These boundaries are seen in the dimensions of epistemology, legislation, professional identity and organization. In order to pursue the objective of the study, interviews were conducted with homeopathic doctors practicing homeopathy and combining it in working as general practitioners or pediatricians. Breaking boundaries, homeopathic doctors find themselves between biomedicine and alternative medicine. The results shows that between fields of biomedicine and homeopathy the medical knowledge is not part of dichotomous binary. However, biomedical specialists who are also students of homeopathy feel the need to deconstruct medical thinking. Even the biomedical knowledge creates authority, these specialists who work in both fields of medicine associate themselves with homeopathy.
