Dievs kā vardarbības iniciators stāstā par Jērikas iekarošanu (Joz 6)

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs risina vardarbības jautājumu Vecajā Derībā. Veicot Jozuas grā-ma¬tas 6. nodaļas ekseģēzi, tiek meklēta atbilde uz jautājumu, vai Dievs bija Jērikas iedzī¬votāju nežēlīgās iznīcināšanas iniciators? Darba gaitā tiek analizēti vārdi, kas saistīti ar vardarbību un svēto karu. Vēsturiski kritiskās ekseģēzes metodes rezultātā veiktā perikopes interpretācija tiek salīdzināta ar divām citām – (1) konfesionālo, pre-cīzāk – Septītās dienas adventistu, jo darba autors pieder šai tradīcijai, un (2) inter¬pre-tāciju, kas izriet no filozofa Renē Žirāra teorijas, jo tā ieņem arvien nozīmīgāku lomu 21. gadsimta diskursā par vardarbības iemesliem. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka, lai arī katra no interpretācijām izmanto atšķirīgus paņēmienus un argu¬mentus, tomēr visās ir atrodami mēģinājumi atbrīvot Dievu no vardarbības.

Current work is an attempt to solve the question of violence in the Old Testament. Exegetically analyzing chapter 6 of the book of Joshua, the author is looking for an answer to the question whether God was an initiator of the cruel destruction of the entire population of the city of Jericho. While solving the reactional and text critical problems the work offers deeper analysis of holy war and violence related passages. At the end of the work, the interpretation of the historico-critical exegesis is compared with the other two. (1) The confessional interpretation of the Seventh-day Adventists, in a view of the fact that the author belongs to that tradition, and (2) with the interpretation in context of the theory of philosopher René Girard, because it occupies an increasingly important role in the 21st century discourse about the reasons for the violence. The results of the study sug¬gest that, although all the interpretations use different techniques and arguments, all are attempting to release God from the violence.
