Mežotnes pilskalna biogrāfija

Abstract

Darbā veidots hronoloģisks pārskats par Mežotnes pilskalnu. Apkopojot un analizējot par to pieejamo materiālu, atklātas pilskalna dažādās nozīmes, kas tam laika gaitā piedēvētas. Kā ,,biogrāfijas’’ izejas punkts raksturoti pils izveidošanās objektīvie, ģeogrāfiskie, saimnieciskie un polit-ekonomiskie apstākļi. Autore pētījusi Mežotnes pils kā apdzīvotas vietas rakstīto vēsturi, kā arī arheoloģisko materiālu un tā interpretācijas, secinot, ka, neskatoties uz apjomīgajiem arheoloģiskajiem pētījumiem, gan sabiedrības, gan arī pētnieciskajā diskursā dominējošo izpratni, par to, kas ir Mežotnes pilskalns, lielā mērā konstituējušas tieši rakstītajos avotos pieejamās ziņas un to interpretācijas. Noslēgumā analizēta Mežotnes pilskalna kā arheoloģiska pieminekļa un kultūrvēsturiskās ainavas sastāvdaļas turpmākā attīstība un attīstības perspektīvas.

This paper intends to create a chronological overview about Mežotne hillfort. By bringing together and analysing the available material, a various meanings attributed to hillfort over time have been revealed. The objective, geographical, economical and political circumstances for the establishement of the hillfort have been decribed as a „biographical” point of departure. Author has studied the written history of Mežotne hillfort as an inhabited place together with the archaeological material and its interpretations, concluding that, despite the huge archaeological research, the dominating perception of Mežotne hillfort both in the public as well as in the academic discourse is mainly constituted by the available information from written sources and their subsequent interpretations. In the conclusion, the future development and its perspectives for Mežotne hillfort as an archaeological monument and a part of historical landscape have been analyzed.
