| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The subject matters of the bachelor’s thesis is meanings eidos and idea in Plato’s works Cratylus, Republic (I – III book) and Theaetetus. The author assumes that meaning is usage. Thus, in orders to clarify meanings of eidos and idea, it is essential to understand how eidos and idea are used in particular context. By using this assumption the author of the thesis is trying to show that in Plato's late dialogues Theatetus and Cratylus as well as in the Republic (I- III book) the word eidos and idea has several meanings that overlapin certain context.
Overall in the dialogues eidos appears 43 times, but idea appears only 14 times, that is three times less than eidos. After analyzing selected fragments of the original text the conclusion is that both eidos and idea have common meanings like type and image in the dialogue Theaetetus, and form in the dialogues Cratylus and Republic. | en_US |
