Bachelor thesis “Shop on wheels activity in Ziemeļkurzeme region. Research of time, space and social, economical processes” is a research made on shop on wheels, which has been supplying food for rural populations for 30 years by bringing it to people’s homes or to the village centers. Shop on wheels has been able to survive and continue its work in the economically changing conditions. Within this service, it is possible to observe living conditions, organization of public life and its economical rationality as trading point in the countryside of Latvia. Objective of the study: observe how shop on wheels is involved in the life of the locals, and how does it represent their opportunities and everyday happenings. The results of this research show that the clients of the shop on wheels are the people who have no chances of getting to a regular shop because of their age, physical and financial conditions. It is based on rational economy and reciprocity, as a part of these processes are trust, regularity and self-interest. Its arrival is the only social occurrence which allows the locals to meet their neighbors, since there are no other activities and central happenings in the village. Shop on wheels has been able to find methods to maintain its business till today.
